Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Repulic of Indonesia in the institution official press release on November 24th 2015 explained about “Saving 1 KWh is cheaper than producing 1 KWh”.

Directorate General of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources held an awarding night of the 4th National Energy Efficiency in Jakarta. The Minister Sudirman Said gave the awards for the government institutions, corporations, and developers who are successful in applying energy efficiency and environment conservation in their industry.

The Minister invites all of the people in Indonesia to also do the energy efficiency in their daily activities such as saving power in technology and tools for a significant energy saving. “As knows, saving 1 KWh is cheaper than producing 1 KWh,” said the Minister.

The winner of the National Energy Efficiency award will then join the annual ASEAN Energy Award organized by ASEAN Center for Energy (ACE), as Indonesia is always active in joining the objective of the award. ASEAN Energy Award itself started in 2000 to promote the application of Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation in ASEAN Region.

National Energy Efficiency Award is divided in 3 categories, they are Less Energy Building, Industrial Energy Management and Energy and Water Saving Implementation in Central Government and Provincial Government, as according to President Instruction No. 13 Year 2011 about Energy and Water Efficiency. The Award is expected to stimulate the Central Government and Provincial Government for a pro-active contribution of energy conservation.

This year awarding event was joined by the total of 60 participants: 7 of Less Energy Building category, 23 of Industrial Energy Management category and 30 of Governmental category. The juries were from Ministry of Public Work and Housing, Assembly of Energy Conservation Expert, Green Building Council Indonesia, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers, Energy Management Indonesia Co., and Directorate of Energy Conservation.

And the winners of the National Energy Efficiency Award are:

– Sub category tropical building

• Green School Bali

– Sub category retrofit building

• Graha Merah Putih Telkom Bandung, Telkom Property

– Sub category green building

• Main Building Ministry of Public Work and Housing

• Graha Niaga Tata Utama

– Sub category innovation for Less Energy Building

• The utilization of Air Conditioning outlet gas for hot water and the usage of Sky Lighting for natural ventilation in Pluit Housing Area.

b. Industrial Energy Management

– Sub category of small and medium industry

• PT Pharos Tbk Semarang

– Sub category of big industry

• PT Indah Kiat Pulp and Paper

• PT Cheil Jedang Pasuruan

• PT Nippon Shokubai Indonesia
